Therefore, the role of crude filtration in diesel oil also takes into account the role of oil-water separation. This is why the coarse filtration of diesel oil is also called a "oil-water separator." However, how does crude filtration of diesel oil achieve the function of water filtration? There are two ways:  Method one: standing still This is characterized by the fact that water is heavier than oil, allowing the fuel to stand in a container and the water will settle down below. The reason is simple and there is a certain role, but this method has no effect on the tiny water droplets dispersed in diesel. If the water is broken up, it will be very small particles, so gravity will be very small. As long as there is a little flow, it will flow downstream with the diesel.  Method two: Isolation of hydrophobic materials In order to remove small particles of water, people use a method of isolation of the filter, and the filter must be treated with water. The so-called hydrophobic treatment is to spray the surface of the filter with hydrophobic material. The hydrophobic material should be familiar to everyone. On the lotus leaf surface, water can form water droplets and not stick to the lotus leaf. The lotus leaf surface has a natural hydrophobic effect. The hydrophobic materials are actually common, such as Teflon in a non-stick pan at home, and Gore-Tex material on high-grade outdoor clothing. All of them are similar, but the latter two are too expensive to be used in diesel. Filtration on. We consulted with Parker's engineers. Parker's engineers told us that the filter paper in Parker's water separator was also used as a hydrophobic material called AquaBloc2. Parker's filter paper surface has obvious hydrophobic effect Similarly, since there are hydrophobic materials, there are also oleophobic materials. Teflon on non-stick pans is a typical material for both hydrophobic and eucalyptus oils. This area is also the direction of research.
