Chinese Academy of Sciences held a symposium to implement the spirit of the National Science and Technology Innovation Conference

On the afternoon of July 12, the Chinese Academy of Sciences held a symposium on the implementation of the spirit of scientific researchers and postgraduates of the National Science and Technology Innovation Conference in Beijing to study and implement the spirit of the National Science and Technology Innovation Conference recently concluded and the important speech of the central leading comrades at the conference. This symposium is one of a series of activities implemented by the Chinese Academy of Sciences to implement the spirit of the General Assembly. Pan Jiaofeng, deputy secretary-general of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, some expert academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, young and middle-aged scientists and graduate students attended the symposium. The symposium was chaired by Chen Xiaofeng, deputy director of the Personnel Education Bureau.

At the meeting, Pan Jiaofeng introduced the relevant background and main spirit of the National Science and Technology Innovation Conference, and shared with participants the personal experience of participating in the conference. He pointed out that the party Central Committee and the State Council attach great importance to scientific and technological innovation and have placed scientific and technological innovation on a high level that will determine the success or failure of the country’s future development and modernization. The pilot project of knowledge innovation of our institute has accumulated a lot of experience for the reform of the national science and technology institutional mechanism, and has played an important role for the pioneers and demonstrators. It has been highly recognized at the national level. However, the pressure on our hospital is also very great. In the next step of development, we must clearly position, highlight features, strengthen collaborative innovation, and give full play to the leading role of our institute as a national strategic scientific force. The evaluation of scientific research should focus more on substantive contributions, and pay attention to the level and quality of results. In short, the reform of the science and technology system is both an opportunity and a challenge for the future development of our college. It requires the whole hospital to work together to further play a role in the new round of reform as a locomotive of the National Science and Technology Team.

All the delegates agreed that the convening of the National Conference on Science and Technology Innovation has significant and far-reaching significance for China’s further deepening of the reform of the science and technology system, accelerating the establishment of a national innovation system, building a well-off society in an all-round way, and strengthening the country’s science and technology. Combining practical work, we implemented the spirit of the National Conference on Science and Technology Innovation and the State Council’s “Opinions on Deepening the Reform of the Science and Technology System and Accelerating the Construction of a National Innovation System” to further promote the implementation of “Innovation 2020” and talked about their experiences, thoughts and suggestions. . Academician Chen Hesheng pointed out that our institute should further emphasize support for basic scientific research and reform and improve the existing management system to better adapt to technological innovation. Academician Li Jiachun pointed out that we should do a good job in the "triple integration" of knowledge innovation and technological innovation, frontier research and applied research, long-term research, and short-term research. We must attach equal importance to overseas returnees and domestic talents. Academician Ouyang Zhongcan pointed out that basic research should be evaluated by international peers and other third parties, industrialization development should be evaluated by the market, and an expert evaluation responsibility system and information disclosure system should be established. Academician Yuan Yaxiang pointed out that we must continue to attach great importance to basic scientific research and we must make great efforts to focus on the cultivation of postgraduate students. I hope that scientific researchers, especially academicians, can teach at the China University of Science and Technology and Graduate School.

Representatives of other scientific researchers also expressed their opinions on talent management, reform of science and technology evaluation system, research projects, and graduate education. Graduate student representatives discussed the understanding of technological innovation from the perspective of students. The students of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics Chen Jingzhi hope that they can continue to increase support for postgraduate scientific and technological innovation, and establish joint training channels with some high-tech enterprises. Hao Sai of the Institute of Atmospheric Physics pointed out that young students should combine their personal development with the development of the country and actively carry out original research work.
