Denso's revenue in the first quarter of 2012 increased by 40% year-on-year

Japan Denso announced the financial data for the first quarter of fiscal year 2012 on July 31, 2012. Its net operating income and net profit all increased, and its operating profit declined slightly.

Denso's net operating income for the fiscal first quarter was 882.4 billion yen (about 11.1 billion U.S. dollars), an increase of 40% year-on-year; Japan's domestic operating income was 620.9 billion yen (7.8 billion U.S. dollars), an increase of 55.7% year-on-year; North American operating income was 15.96 billion yen (2 billion US dollars), an increase of 57.8%; European operating income of 93.5 billion yen (1.2 billion US dollars), a year-on-year decrease of 13.9%; Asia and Oceania operating income and 175.3 billion yen (2.2 billion US dollars ), an increase of 19.1% year-on-year; operating income in other regions was 14 billion yen (approximately US$176 million), a year-on-year decrease of 11.4%.

Denso’s operating profit for the fiscal first quarter was 782 billion yen (approximately US$986 million), a year-on-year decrease of 5.2%; Japan’s domestic operating profit was 55.1 billion yen (approximately US$695 million), a year-on-year decrease of 27.4%; North American operating profit was 52 billion yen (US$659 million), down 33.3% year-on-year; European operating profit of 1.8 billion yen (22.8 million US dollars), down 42.8% year-on-year; Asia and Oceania operating profit of 17 billion yen (21.4 million) (USD), a year-on-year increase of 27.7%; operating profit in other regions was 1 billion yen (US$1.23 million), a decrease of 35.8% year-on-year.

Denso’s net profit for the fiscal first quarter was 49.1 billion yen (approximately US$619 million), an increase of 1,801.7% year-on-year.

Based on the financial report for the first quarter of fiscal year 2012 and the latest market trends, DENDA will revise its financial expectations for the first half of the year, that is, the operating income of Denso Group will increase to 1.74 trillion yen in fiscal year 2012, resulting in an increase in operating profit. To 135 billion yen, net profit increased to 88 billion yen.
