·The first batch of driverless licenses in China "flowers fall" SAIC, Weilai

On March 1, at the press conference of "Shanghai Intelligent Network Linked Vehicle Road Test Management (Trial)", SAIC (600104, shares) and Weilai Automobile received the first batch of intelligent network road test licenses.

The first batch of licenses is three, two of which are awarded to SAIC Group and one of Weilai Motors. The license is valid until May 29, 2018. That is to say, it is different from the ordinary temporary license for three months. The test license is valid for 90 days.

“Like the new energy vehicle market 10 years ago, the unmanned industrialization will also form an outbreak in 5-10 years.” Chen Hailin, assistant to the chairman of Shanghai International Automobile City (Group) Co., Ltd., believes.

In fact, before this, the International Automobile City has built the first national-level intelligent networked car (Shanghai) pilot demonstration zone closed test zone (hereinafter referred to as “closed test zone”), which will enable car companies to have the opportunity to simulate 100 complexities. Tested under road conditions, so that the driverless cars developed by the car companies are closer to the road conditions in China and promote the realization of the era of unmanned driving in China.

However, even so, industrialization still faces many practical tests, and the implementation of the first batch of unmanned road test licenses will effectively promote the progress of China's unmanned industrialization.

The first three "flowers fall" SAIC Weilai

Qin Lihong, co-founder of Weilai Automobile, personally took back the license and announced the news in his circle of friends: Weilai and SAIC Group jointly won the first (batch) unmanned development road test license in China. Following the first batch of the unmanned open road test license in California in October 2016, Weilai took another solid step.

The official Weibo of SAIC Group also announced this good news for the first time. SAIC officially revealed at the same time: "With the leading edge in smart driving core technology, SAIC Group also plans to launch smart driving mass production products this year, bringing consumers consumers with pain points such as congestion, parking difficulties and traffic safety. A different driving experience.

In the future, smart driving technology will also cover the three major brands of SAIC Group Roewe, MG and Datong.

"The era of rapid development of intelligent networked vehicles has arrived." Yang Lixin, deputy director of the Industrial Standards Division of the National Automobile Standardization Committee, believes that from the Internet of Vehicles to Internet vehicles to autonomous driving, drone has become a major revolution in the automotive industry. Qi Guochun, deputy director of the Equipment Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, also believes that "Intelligent networked vehicles are the development direction of the whole industry."

Chinese auto companies have also had a strong desire to test on the road. On the roads in China, the autopilot road test scenes that have appeared in the United States and Europe are the collective aspirations of auto companies.

As early as January 2016, under the proposal of Shanghai International Automobile City, the relevant state departments and relevant departments of Shanghai have actively entered the study of the first demonstration area of the driverless road test. On June 7 last year, Shanghai built the first national-level intelligent networked car (Shanghai) pilot demonstration zone closed test area. In the closed test area, car companies have the opportunity to test under 100 complex road conditions.

At present, there are 20 cars in the closed test area, including the Shanghai Motor Vehicle Testing Center's Touran, Lingdu, Tsinghua University and Changan CS75, Tongji University and SAIC Group's Roewe e50 and MG AS21, Volvo The group's XC90, GM China's Cadillac ATS-L, Chevrolet Volt and so on. However, unmanned driving is a systematic project, which requires mature conditions. In addition to the maturity of unmanned driving technology in auto companies, it also requires the access of enterprises and products on the road, a large number of preliminary tests, training of relevant test drive personnel, and after the road. Formulation of various types of insurance and other regulations.

Government-led cautious openness

The issuance of the driverless license is inseparable from the efforts at all levels, and the relevant state departments have been actively promoting. In September last year, Meng Hao, deputy director of the Policy Research Office of the National Development and Reform Commission, said that the National Development and Reform Commission has initiated the drafting of the national smart car innovation development strategy, which will clarify the strategic direction, development goals, main paths, key tasks and guarantees of China's smart car development in the future. The measures make it a grand blueprint and action plan to lead the development of smart cars in China, and propose an immediate action plan in the strategy to ensure that the strategy is launched and implemented in an orderly manner.

On October 28 last year, a national joint innovation center of the intelligent network car jointly established by Tongji University, Shanghai Electric Apparatus Research Institute and Auto City was established.

Chen Hailin said: "The purpose of the center is to strive to become a national-level technology center within three to five years. It is planned to build a domestically leading, internationally influential intelligent networked car and smart transportation forward-looking common technology collaborative innovation and standardization by 2018. A functional public platform for research and development, product technology testing and certification, and scientific and technological results incubation and transformation."

It can be expected that the first batch of licenses of SAIC and Weilai will only be the beginning of the driverless road test. More and more car companies will be granted licenses, and these measures will continue to promote the industrialization of unmanned driving in China.

But even so, whether or not drone can be finally realized and industrialized still faces many challenges.

On May 7 last year, after more than four months of the accident in China's elegant Ning accident, a Tesla Model S with Autopilot function collided with a tractor at a high speed in central Florida, resulting in the interior of the car. The driver died in a car accident. The continuous occurrence of unmanned car safety accidents, whether or not drone can be realized, has become a common question.

Compared with foreign countries, China's road conditions are more complicated. Chen Chaozhuo, director of the China-Swedish Traffic Safety Research Center, believes that: “Unmanned driving requires technical maturity, and is also constrained by a series of factors such as road conditions and pedestrian quality. The resistance of unmanned driving in China is greater in software. Even in terms of hardware. Overtaken, there is still a gap of 'one generation' in software."

Rong Wenwei, Chairman of Shanghai International Automobile City (Group) Co., Ltd. also said: "China's road conditions are different from those of foreign roads. Driverless cars that can run on American roads may not be able to run on Chinese roads; but they can be in China. The driverless car running on the road will surely be able to run on American roads." This is also the significance of the open unmanned road test in China.
