Purification of rare earth metals by regional melting method - application examples
After the metal impurity content of lanthanum, cerium, gadolinium, terbium purified by zone melting as shown in Table 1. The gas impurities H, O, and N in the table were analyzed by vacuum melting, and the metal impurities were analyzed by mass spectrometry. After the melt purification in the zone, the content of impurities in the beginning, middle and end of the test bar changed significantly. O and N move in the opposite direction of the melt zone motion and are enriched at the beginning of the sample. The direction of movement of the metal impurities is consistent with the direction of the melt zone movement, and most of it is concentrated at the end of the sample.
