Indian tire manufacturer MRF two factories stopped production due to **

Indian tire manufacturer MRF stopped production at the Arakkonam and Puducherry plants in India on October 12 due to a strike. At present MRF company leaders refused to come forward to comment.

Trade union organizers stated that 800 workers had been identified as sitting in a sit-in in the Arakkonam factory. The factory had three shifts and normally produced 45,000 tires a day. The MRF union stated that most factory workers supported the trade unions, and this strike was organized in response to the fact that the factory management did not recognize trade unions and also detained two workers. The plant supplies Honda motorcycles, Scooter India, Bajaj cars and Maruti Suzuki.

Puducherry’s trade unions also organized strikes in order to get the factory’s approval and required the employment of dismissed workers. They claim that the workers were dismissed after joining the trade unions. Two of the workers were detained on the 11th because they were framed.

In the middle of last year, the strikes at the two factories caused a loss of about 10 billion rupees. The strike at the time also required the factory to recognize the union and conduct wage negotiations.
