Detecting transformer core multi-point grounding fault

(1) Gas chromatographic analysis. If the content of methane and ethylene in the gas is high, and the carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide gas content change little compared with the past, it may be due to the core overheat caused by multi-point grounding; when the acetylene gas occurs, it shows that the core has been Intermittent multipoint grounding occurs.
(2) Use a clamp ammeter to measure the current flowing on the ground lead of the transformer core ground bushing. If the core is normally grounded, no current loop is formed, the current on the grounding line is very small, which is in the order of milliamperes (generally less than 3 mA). When there is a multi-point grounding, the main magnetic flux around the core is equivalent to the short-circuiting fault. Flow through the circulation, the value of which is determined by the relative position of the fault point and the normal grounding point, that is, how much magnetic flux is surrounded in the short-circuiting loop, generally up to several tens of amps. This can accurately determine whether there is more ground fault core.
Treatment method (1) When the core has external grounding wire, resistors can be connected in series on the core grounding loop to limit the core grounding current. This method can only be used as an emergency measure.
(2) For iron core ground faults caused by metal foreign objects, as long as the core is inspected, problems can be found and eliminated.
(3) For ground faults caused by burrs and metal powder accumulation, capacitor discharge shock method and AC arc high current impact method (that is, using a welding machine) can be used for processing.
