Japan IHIMU decided to provide technology to EAS in Brazil

Japan's IHI Marine United (IHIMU) said on the 27th that it signed a technology transfer contract with Brazil's Estaleiro Atlantico Sul (EAS) shipyard. In the next four years, in order to improve the operation of the shipyard, that is, to improve the productivity of the shipyard and on-time delivery, etc., cooperate.
EAS's first construction project has not progressed smoothly. Since the company's founding partner, South Korea's Samsung Heavy Industries, withdrew the project, the shipyard lost its technology-providing company.
Therefore, the shipyard requested technical assistance from IHIMU. In 1959, IHI and the Brazilian government jointly established Ishibras Shipyard. IHIMU decided to cooperate as a technology-based engineering business.
In 1994, IHIMU retreated from the Ishibras shipyard project and again with the Brazilian shipyard after 18 years, but the company said that there is no funding plan. IHIMU plans to dispatch more than 10 technical support teams to EAS from July, and then dispatch about 30 people. This working group will be composed of veterans with Ishibras experience and newcomers.
