A few days ago, the US Rubber and Plastics News (RPN) announced the 2016 North American rubber manufacturing top 50 list. It is understood that the top six companies maintain the same ranking as last year, but sales are showing a downward trend. In addition, among the top ten companies, only one company is the latest finalist. Bridgestone (Americas) is at the top of the list. The company's sales of rubber products in North America reached $8.78 billion. In 2016, its total sales decreased by 13.2% year-on-year. Michelin (North America) ranked second, with sales revenue of $7.78 billion, down 12% year-on-year. Goodyear ranked third with sales of $7.2 billion, down 7.4% year-on-year. Continental's sales revenue ranked fourth, reaching $4.22 billion, up 5.3% year-on-year. Cooper Tire & Rubber Company ranked fifth with an estimated sales of $2.5 billion. Cooper's standard auto parts company ranked sixth with sales of $1.73 billion. Hankook Tire (USA) is the only new top 10 company to rank seventh, with $1.56 billion in sales. It is understood that in order to qualify for this ranking, companies must have manufacturing operations in North America. As a subsidiary of Hankook Tire, Hankook USA entered the rankings for the first time due to its operation in the first tire factory in North America. Kumho Tire (USA) also appeared on the list for the first time since its operation at its new plant in Georgia, USA. The company is ranked 27th and sales in North America are $528 million. In addition, the top 10 companies also ranked 8th in Toyo Tire (USA) with sales of $1.51 billion. Yokohama Tire Company and Gates tied for ninth place, with estimated sales of $1.3 billion. From the list, the top ten total sales were about $38 billion, down from $41 billion in the previous year. Despite the decline in overall industry revenues in 2016, there are still 14 companies with rubber product sales growth on the list, which is not much different from the situation in 2015.
