Scattering and sample chambers are key components of a universal powder diffraction spectrometer. The sample chamber is a special configuration of a cylindrical chamber used to place samples and various sample environment equipment. The scattering chamber contains 6 sets of rough collimator cavities, 6 sets of detector support frames and operating tables, which are mounted on the periphery of the sample cavities. Rough collimators are used to absorb stray neutrons and improve the signal-to-noise ratio. The detector support frame is used to accurately position the collimation detector array. The console is located above the sample chamber to facilitate the sample replacement operation.
After GPPD scattering cavity and sample cavity are processed, the overall pre-assembly size is about 4000*5000*3000mm3. The sample chamber is a sealed aluminum welding vessel with a vacuum environment. The chamber vacuum leakage rate reaches 4.7*10-6Pa.m3/s. The overall processing accuracy of the chamber is within ±1mm, and the accuracy of the six scattering window angles is ±0.1. ° range. The inside of the rough collimator chamber is a 5 kPa positive pressure argon atmosphere, and the tightness meets the requirements. The dimensional deviation in the chamber is in the range of 0 to 4 mm, and the overall pre-assembly achieves a coarse precision cavity position accuracy of 2 mm. Detector support frame overall size deviation ± 0.1mm, positioning pin control position deviation ± 0.1mm, equipped with a detector array (5 detector modules) to achieve detection surface flatness better than 1mm.
The acceptance team unanimously agreed that the manufacturing and pre-installation of GPPD scatter chambers and sample chambers met the requirements of the contract, system documents, technical documents, and relevant standards. The data files were complete and inspected and passed the factory acceptance.

[Chinese instrument network instrument research and development] On December 26th, the Chinese spallation neutron source (CSNS) management department organized a factory acceptance inspection for CSNS general powder diffraction spectrometer (GPPD) scattering cavity and sample cavity. Qu Huaimin, the Dongguan branch of the Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, was the head of the acceptance team and Sheng Weifan was the head of the test team.
