Bosch: Ready for New Energy Vehicles

During the Shanghai Auto Show 2011, Bosch announced its development strategy in China - assisting domestic vehicle manufacturers in continuous technological innovation in electric mobility, energy saving and emission reduction, and driving safety. It is understood that the regenerative braking system "HAS hev" and the 9th-generation ESP will be mass-produced in China within the year. The largest parts plant will start construction within the year, and the adaptive cruise system will become the future standard of the vehicle.

The regenerative braking system "HAS hev" designed by Bosch specifically for hybrid and electric vehicles will be produced in China this year. The system aims at the special braking performance and energy feedback requirements of hybrid and electric vehicles, converts the rotational energy of wheels into electrical energy storage, increases the mileage of vehicles, saves fuel, and significantly reduces carbon dioxide emissions. Dr. Chen Yudong, President of Bosch China, said that in 2010, Bosch had successfully launched two new energy automotive technology advance projects through the Electric Drive Business Unit established within United Automotive Electronics Co., Ltd. The implementation of these two projects will promote the production of key components of hybrid and electric vehicle technologies in China in 2012, and new energy vehicles equipped with Bosch technology will be mass-produced in 2013.

As the smallest and lightest brake control system on the market, Bosch's ninth-generation ABS/ESP(R) will be produced in volume in the country during the year. The world's largest after-sales service auto parts factory of the Bosch Group will start in Nanjing in 2011. The new plant will provide high-quality spare parts and professional inspection equipment for the after-sales network.

At present, Bosch has built 11 production bases, 4 technology R&D centers, and a winter testing ground in China. The fifth R&D center in Changsha and the summer test site in Donghai, Jiangsu Province will also be completed in 2012 to further strengthen the local community. R & D capabilities.
